Craig Brown is a seasoned leader in human interface design, specializing in 3D UX, extended reality (XR), and immersive interactive experiences. With over 20 years of expertise spanning web, mobile, desktop, and VR/AR platforms, he excels at translating complex spatial and technical challenges into intuitive, user-centered solutions. His architectural background and advanced training in interactive design inform a distinctive approach that emphasizes human factors, spatial cognition, and seamless integration of technology with real-world applications.
As Chief of 3D Art and UX Design at Canopy Pilot, Craig leads the creative and user experience direction for SkydiVR, an advanced virtual reality parachute flight simulator. This work delivers ultra-realistic training environments for military, civilian, and entertainment sectors, focusing on precise physics modeling, immersive environments, and effective hardware integration to enhance safety and performance in high-stakes scenarios.
Previously, Craig held senior roles at Verizon for nearly nine years, where he served as XR Program Manager for 5G Experience Activations and UX and 3D Content Manager. In these capacities, he directed vision, product strategy, and execution for high-profile XR initiatives. His responsibilities included designing live entertainment and media activations for major events such as the Oscars, Super Bowl, NASCAR, and Live Nation concerts, as well as developing XR products that leveraged 5G network capabilities for enterprise and consumer applications.
Earlier in his career, Craig established agile UX processes and led design teams as Interactive Design Manager at Open English, supporting a global language learning platform. He also served as Professor of Integrated Media at NYU Tandon School of Engineering, where he taught digital media, game design, 3D production, and entrepreneurial practices. His pioneering contributions at Media Mind and Viewpoint include some of the earliest interactive 3D web experiences, award-winning online advertising campaigns (Stevie and W3 Awards), the groundbreaking “Build Your Scion” configurator, and innovative 3D holographic installations.
Craig holds a Bachelor of Architecture from The Pennsylvania State University Stuckeman School of Architecture and a Master’s degree in Interactive Design from the University of California, Los Angeles. His body of work reflects a consistent commitment to innovation at the intersection of design, technology, and human experience, with a proven track record of delivering impactful solutions in both creative and enterprise contexts.
